SUPPORTER is an EU-funded project running from April 2023 until September 2025, that aims to promote gender equality and drive institutional change in the sports ecosystem. Partnering with eight sports higher education institutions in Central and Eastern Europe, the project implements tailor-made Gender Equality Plans (4I-GEPs) addressing gender-based violence. The three-step methodology of analysis, reflection, and implementation facilitates exchanging best practices and training materials, strengthening gender equality networks, and implementing targeted actions. SUPPORTER aligns with the Europe Commission’s efforts to combat gender inequality and violence, extending its positive impact beyond the eight implementing organizations to influence the broader sports ecosystem in Eastern Europe and beyond. This ripple effect can trigger gender-focused institutional change in various organizations, contributing to societal transformations and benefiting society as a whole.
